Yet she couldn’t bring herself to vote for Biden and didn’t vote that year. In the 2000 election, Democrat Al Gore received 70% in DeKalb; in 2020, Biden won 83%. Massachusetts native Kim Cavaliere, who moved to Georgia over 20 years ago, is pictured at her home in Dacula, Georgia. She’s still inclined to vote third-party again but is perhaps open to reconsidering if Georgia could settle a close race. It is rural, and reliably red – Trump won 71% of the county vote in 2020.

As he emerges victorious from the Republican primary race, Trump faces considerable challenges both inside and outside the political arena. Wednesday’s inauspicious start to Trump’s outreach efforts is reflective of the longstanding concerns about his temperament and style that inspired many Republicans to support Haley, Florida Gov. In cruising to his party’s nomination, Trump left little doubt that he remains the dominant figure in the GOP. From Iowa and New Hampshire through Super Tuesday, Haley especially exposed persistent divisions in the party and headwinds for Trump recapturing moderate support. Meanwhile, nearly three in 10 of all primary voters said Trump wouldn’t be fit for the presidency if he is convicted of a crime.

He fought hard in state after state, even as the front-runner amassed a delegate advantage that would be virtually impossible to overcome. Haley decided to skip Nevada’s presidential caucuses next Thursday in favor of a state primary election two days earlier that does not award delegates. Trump could embarrass Haley in her home state of South Carolina later in the month, where the former president has a loyal following. In New Hampshire's recent primary, for example, Trump won a decisive victory against Haley backed by his popularity among traditional Republican voters. The Haley campaign has already rolled out leadership teams and “Women for Nikki” chapters in all 15 Super Tuesday states.

Manchester, New Hampshire CNN —Donald Trump is demanding far more than a win in Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary. That’s what we are here to tell you what we in South Carolina want,” 76-year-old Gov. It was also a clear attempt at intimidating Haley into folding her campaign if she loses Tuesday, before the race even gets to South Carolina. In the CNN poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire, Trump has expanded his lead with 50% support among likely GOP voters while Haley stands at 39%. The former South Carolina governor suffered a similar enthusiasm gap in Iowa, and after Sunday, she has only a day to turn it around in New Hampshire.

Sen. Mitt Romney said he couldn't "disrespect someone more" than his GOP colleague, JD Vance. On Wednesday afternoon, less than an hour after Republican Sen. Marie Bailey moved from California to Texas with her husband and daughter in 2017. When we went on our first date together, we said: "One day we're going to leave California." We didn't want to pay that rent forever, so we were looking at how much houses cost in El Segundo. Bailey and her family were able to build their dream home in Texas for about the same price they sold their California house, she said. I was thinking maybe if I won a billion dollars, I'll get a beautiful beach house in California and go back.

FBI agents shot and killed an armed Utah man accused of threatening President Joe Biden. Craig Deleeuw Robertson was armed when agents arrived to serve a search warrant. Biden was expected to to visit Utah around the time the threats were made, per court documents. Robertson was charged under seal Tuesday with three felony counts, including making threats against the president, court documents show. Clark said Robertson had a collection of about 20 guns, though he noted that that wasn't unusual for the area.

In 2015, Ryan, the House speaker then, denounced Trump’s proposed Muslim ban as “not conservatism,” “not what this party stands for” and “not what this country stands for.” Then-Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana privately complained that Trump was “unacceptable,” according to the G.O.P. Their point was simply that Trump couldn’t win. So why oppose Trump in 2024? “Because I want to win,” Ryan said, “and we lose with Trump.

But I now have a different view of small towns, one based in part on how they sometimes treat those they perceive as outsiders. Over the course of our 12 years in Columbia, my family slowly but surely progressed from insiders to outsiders, beginning with the adoption of our youngest daughter, a beautiful girl from Ethiopia. My other two children, who are blond with blue eyes, were never followed by store employees; my youngest daughter was. My youngest daughter has had all those experiences. Former US President Donald Trump arrives to deliver remarks at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in Bedminster, New Jersey, on June 13, 2023. That sort of comment is further than where many of Trump's rivals for the GOP presidential nomination will go publicly. Still, even out in the open, there are indications that they believe this federal indictment is far more serious than the last one. But the Trump indictment took over, with participants expressing deep concern about backlash and the party's fracturing beyond repair. On one hand, if Trump's GOP rivals blast him, they risk further alienating his committed GOP supporters.

Former GOP Speaker of the House and "never-again Trumper" Paul Ryan appeared on CBS This Morning. Ryan listed a litany of reasons why he's "not a Trump fan." After cohost Gayle King asked Ryan if he supports Trump for the 2024 Republication, Ryan listed a litany of reasons why he's "not a Trump fan." "All the exhaustion of all the Trump baggage is going to make it easier now, I think, to make the argument to his core supporters he's not electable," Ryan said. "He's going to cost us the Senate again, he's going to cost us more House seats, he'll cost us the White House, and we want to win."

Marjorie Taylor Greene dismissed presidential hopeful Nikki Haley as "Bush in heels." Haley announced her bid for the 2024 presidency on Tuesday, and Trump allies have gone after her. On her personal Twitter account on Wednesday, Greene waved Haley off as "just another George (or Jeb!) The "heels" reference was not pulled out of thin air, with Haley having triumphantly referred to them in the closing moments of her video. Greene's reference to Cheney and the Bush dynasty likely aimed to place Haley squarely in a now-distant, pre-Trump era of the Republican Party.
“The war is just getting started,” Clements told his 100,000 Telegram followers on Nov. 16. His rise in the movement began in January 2021, when a dispute with his employer, New Mexico State University, over the U.S. Capitol riot went public. ‘I will not take the jab’Clements’ swift rise in election-denier circles caused a stir at New Mexico State, where he continued to teach. Flynn co-founded the America Project, a well-capitalized right-wing group that has financed lawsuits and campaigns challenging the 2020 election results and the integrity of U.S. voting systems. One of their roles is to certify election results, which until the Trump era was typically a rubber-stamp formality.
Speaking to reporters this week, Brown reaffirmed that he intends to seek a fourth term. Jai Chabria, Vance’s chief campaign strategist, said he expects the “floodgates to open” with candidates eager to take on Brown. Dolan’s pitch to county chairs this week leaned into frustrations that Republicans have vented toward Trump after disappointing midterm results. For Brown, this year’s midterm elections in Ohio have yielded a more unpleasant set of questions than the last. “He is a different beast than Tim Ryan, because Tim Ryan was a Xerox of a Xerox of Sherrod Brown,” Chabria said.
This standoff will shift the terrain only by inches, even if it does help change which party has technical control of Congress. As for resolving the larger argument, that’s still a decision that the country makes during presidential elections, not midterms. For Republicans, a populist questionNeither party is currently prepared for the coming 2024 fight because both have unresolved internal issues that the midterm results may put into sharper focus. But the fact of the matter is, they are losing on the crime issue — not by a little, but a lot. But just because the fight is public and ugly, doesn’t mean it isn’t necessary and eventually helpful ahead of 2024.
Trump issued a re-endorsement for GOP Sen. Mike Lee of Utah after DeSantis shot an ad for him. "The Great People of Utah have a gem in Mike Lee," he said. "Senator Lee has the support of a broad range of conservatives including President Trump, Gov. "To get America on the right path forward we need a Republican majority in the Senate and that's why I'm proud to endorse Mike Lee," DeSantis said in the ad for Lee. Trump helped DeSantis secure the 2018 Republican gubernatorial nomination, but this round DeSantis has not asked for Trump's endorsement.
Mick Mulvaney, Donald Trump's former budget director, blasted NY AG Letitia James' Trump case. Now a never-Trumper, Mulvaney asks of James' lawsuit, 'Who's the victim here?' In August, Mulvaney called Trump the only Republican who could lose to a Democrat in the 2024 election. "They didn't lose money," Trump said. James' lawsuit alleges that Trump enriched himself by an undeserved $250 million by lying over the past decade to Deutche Bank and other lenders on financial documents.
The majority of American adults say Biden and Trump are too old to serve in public office right now, according to a new poll. But respondents were more likely to say Biden was too old to serve. Democrats are more likely than Republicans to say Rep. Liz Cheney is "the right age" to serve. But more American adults feel that Biden is too old to serve than Trump, according to a new Insider/Morning Consult poll. Thirty-nine percent of Republicans said she is "the right age" to serve compared to 55% of Democrats.
